If you're searching for the best things to do on a weekend morning in Austin, look no further than the city's incredible farmers markets. As a trusted Austin realtor and local Austin real estate expert, I spend a lot of time helping clients discover what makes this city so special — and the farmers markets are always near the top of my list. Whether you're a longtime resident, a newcomer settling into a new neighborhood, or someone considering a move, knowing where to shop local is part of truly living the Austin lifestyle.
Austin is home to more than 40 markets every week, making it one of the most vibrant farmers market cities in the entire country. From Central Austin to South Austin, East Austin to the Hill Country suburbs, there truly is a market for every neighborhood and every lifestyle. As an Austin real estate specialist who works across the Greater Austin area, I love pointing my clients toward the markets closest to their new homes — because finding your neighborhood market is one of the first steps to feeling like a true Austinite.
Here is my guide to the best farmers markets in Austin, Texas.
🌿 1. Texas Farmers Market at Mueller 📍 2006 Philomena St, Austin, TX 78723 🕙 Sundays, 10 AM – 2 PM (Year-Round)
If you ask almost any local to name their favorite Austin farmers market, Texas Farmers Market at Mueller is almost always the answer. Voted Austin's favorite farmers market by the Austin Chronicle for eight consecutive years and counting, Texas Farmers Market at Mueller draws 120+ vendors offering fresh organic produce — fruits, veggies, meats, milk, honey, plants and flowers, tea, and handmade products.
The Mueller market is a producer-only market, meaning farmers can only sell what they themselves grow, and it provides a true festival atmosphere with plenty of live music and fun events for kids. News And Trends Located in the heart of the Mueller mixed-use community in East Austin — one of the most popular neighborhoods for buyers I work with — this Sunday market is the perfect way to wrap up a weekend.
Why I love it: Mueller is a community within a community. The neighborhood itself is walkable, family-friendly, and full of energy, and the market reflects that spirit perfectly. If you're curious about buying a home near Mueller, let's talk — this area is a fantastic investment.
🌽 2. SFC Farmers' Market Downtown (Republic Square) 📍 422 Guadalupe St, Republic Square, Austin, TX 78701 🕙 Saturdays, 9 AM – 1 PM (Year-Round)
The Downtown market has been a beloved Austin institution since 2003 and remains one of the most popular markets in the city. It's situated in Republic Square Park next to the federal courthouse and includes a café under the Auction Oak and plenty of room to picnic. News And Trends
Centrally located with over 75 weekly vendors, the SFC Farmers' Market Downtown focuses on local farms and ranches and features small local businesses, community programs, and activities for the whole family.
Every Saturday morning, rain or shine, this massive market transforms Republic Square into a lively community of locals, visitors, students, families, farmers, artists, and musicians. Be sure to stop by the Urban Roots stand, which supports a sustainable farm program led by local youth. Visit Austin
Why I love it: This is the go-to market for downtown condo dwellers and the perfect reason to make a morning of it in the city center. If you're interested in Downtown Austin condos or high-rise real estate in Austin, this neighborhood — and this market — will absolutely charm you.
🍅 3. Barton Creek Farmers Market 📍 2901 S Capital of Texas Hwy, Austin, TX 78746 🕙 Saturdays, 9 AM – 1 PM (Year-Round)
Austin's original farmers market, operating since 1987, Barton Creek Farmers Market is a multi-award-winning institution that has been voted in the top 10 farmers markets in the country several times and has won Best Austin Farmers Market — including an award for Best Food Court. Located at Barton Creek Square Mall, this award-winning market boasts a fantastic view of the Downtown Austin skyline. Enjoy live music while you explore the vendor booths selling freshly baked breads, Fredericksburg peaches during late spring and summer, and fresh cheeses. Visit Austin
Why I love it: Barton Creek is pure Austin charm with a side of Hill Country scenery. This market is especially beloved by families and those living in Southwest Austin. If you're looking at homes in this area — including luxury properties near the Barton Creek greenbelt — this is the neighborhood lifestyle you'd be buying into.
🥩 4. Texas Farmers Market at Lakeline 📍 11200 Lakeline Mall Dr, Cedar Park, TX 78613 🕙 Saturdays, 9 AM – 1 PM (Year-Round)
One of the largest farmers markets in Central Texas, Texas Farmers Market at Lakeline features 90+ vendors, with 40% selling agricultural products sourced within 150 miles of the market, ensuring your produce is always freshly harvested. The market also runs a weekly composting program and features live music from local artists.
The Bell District market (the sister market to Mueller, operated by Texas Farmers Market) is open year-round, rain or shine, and is producer-only, providing a festival atmosphere with music and fun events for kids. News And Trends
Why I love it: For my clients considering Cedar Park, Round Rock, or North Austin, this is your farmers market. The Greater Austin area extends well into these communities, and the quality of life — including access to markets like this one — is exceptional.
🌸 5. SFC Farmers' Market Sunset Valley 📍 Toney Burger Center, 3200 Jones Rd, Austin, TX 78745 🕙 Saturdays, 9 AM – 1 PM (Year-Round)
South Austinites have quick access to the SFC Farmers' Market at Sunset Valley, a sprawling market that features a unique Taste the Place sampling booth and an Imagination Playground Station for little ones. Landing With over 35 local vendors, this is a fantastic South Austin staple for picking up seasonal fruits, vegetables, meats, eggs, pastries, and artisan goods.
Why I love it: South Austin has one of the most loyal and tight-knit communities in the city, and this market is a perfect expression of that. It's exactly the kind of neighborhood gem that makes South Austin homes so desirable.

Why I love it: For clients exploring Lake Travis waterfront properties, Hill Country ranch real estate, or homes in the Bee Cave and Lakeway corridors, this market captures the spirit of the area beautifully. The Hill Country lifestyle is truly unmatched, and this market is part of what makes it so appealing.
🌾 7. Boggy Creek Farm (East Austin Farm Stand) 📍 East Austin 🕙 Wednesday – Saturday, 8 AM – 1 PM (September through July)
For an authentically Austin experience, visit East Austin's Boggy Creek Farm to tour the grounds, meet the farmers, and explore the hen house. This no-till urban farm has been in business since 1992 and sells seasonally harvested, organic produce, meats, and eggs. Visit Austin It's less of a traditional market and more of a true farm experience — and one of the most beloved spots in the city.
Why I love it: Boggy Creek is old Austin at its finest. It's the kind of place that reminds you why people fall in love with this city. East Austin has transformed dramatically in recent years, and properties near beloved local institutions like this farm carry tremendous long-term value.
🏡 A Note from Monica Fabbio
Living in Austin means having access to some of the best food culture, outdoor spaces, and community markets in the country. Every time I help a client find their perfect home — whether it's a downtown Austin luxury condo, a Lake Austin waterfront property, a Texas Hill Country ranch, or a charming bungalow in South Austin — I think about how the whole neighborhood ecosystem matters. Farmers markets are a big part of that ecosystem.
If you're thinking about buying or selling a home in Austin, I'd love to help you find not just the perfect property, but the perfect community to go along with it.
